First Quarter 2009 QUIP Report

Active Membership Trend:  We have 1086 members, up 1.5% from one year ago, up 6.6% from three years ago.  We rank second in District 8, out of the 5 units, and we rank 121 out of 303 units in the ACBL.  We are, by far, the largest unit in District 8. 

New Member Gains:  We rank first in District 8 and 57th in the ACBL, with a 9.3% gain in new members in the last 12 months. We are doing quite well at recruiting new members.

Member Losses:  We lost 87 members, or 8.5%, in the last 12 months.  Two years ago we lost 83 and 3 yeas ago we lost 49.  The ACBL total average was a 6.6% loss.   (This includes members who have died, but does not include members who have switched to an unpaid Life Master status or members with a lapse in renewal.)

New Member Retention in Year 2:  We have had 284 new members in the past 3 years and we retained 64.8% (a 3-year weighted average).  We rank third in District 8 in this retention rate.  The ACBL average is 61.6%. 

Average Age: The average age of our Unit member is 67.72; one year ago it was 67.03, two years ago it was 66.42.  The average age for the ACBL is 68.78.  Yes, we are getting older.

Average Years of ACBL Membership:  Our unit average is 19.05 years.  The ACBL average is 19.39 years.
